I think like everything else the chinese will rival everyone in some regards.  We all want value these days and that means adding quality with competitve prices.  Some of those chinese watches are coming out very nicely with some workhorse movements in them and they're able to do it for less money than the swiss, german, and russians and japanese.  We already know that some of the watches we get are great value because they're running with a Miyota mov't (or similar) in it which keeps the price down.  I can't help but wonder if the Chinese are the ones to make the next horological breakthrough....not in new mov't technology or materials but rather the ability to mass produce quality mov'ts and extremely affordable prices.  Doing that could disrupt the whole Quartz movement.

 

(For the record Ral, I too am getting a Perpetual Regulator when they're back in.)
