So as soon as my name is on the FCC's web site I will have a call sign and will finally be able to talk on my radio.Hucky, I guess the biggest reason is safety. If you arent careful or dont have things set up right you could get hurt. We are dealing with some pretty big power. You can actually get burned if you come in contact with an antenna while transmitting. Also these signals reach around the world so they just dont want anyone transmitting unless they know who it is.
