I think it's a great watch with sufficient features for serious enthusiasts to consider. Reminds me a little bit though of the forthcoming Aqua Luna 2, except that that one presents itself with a dominant blue dial color markings and accents (if the last thread on the AL2 were to be the final product).

Overall a good, good snap even at E650.00 considering the HEV, 1,000m rating and black DLC....which is the most difficult to achieve on DLC. Usually, DLC is just a shade or 2 lighter than jet black but Steinhart may have scored a home run on the total black variant.

But I have to agree with Brice that the dial is a little too busy particularly with the addition of the inner broken orange ring. Maybe without that inner ring, the watch would posture itself a little more seriously. Somehow though the value of that ring comes up when dark sets in and lume takes over.

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, that discrete orange seal around the seams of the HEV is an unusual and remarkable touch on design.

Not very comfortable having a deployant on a diver and would prefer the usual tang-type buckle or popular double snap safety buckle.

Would I consider buying this on a scale of 1 to 10? Yes....I'd score it a 7 and maybe my craving for this watch would increase to a 9 if only it were thicker than 14mm. Ideally, an 18mm height would complement this hefty diver.

The above points are only my opinion and anybody is open to disagree.

Big Congrats to the folks at Steinhart for a notable creation.yourock.gif

Jeff...thanks for takin' the extra time to reply on this one amigo...your detailed comments really gave me some things to think about.

I agree with the comparison comments to the upcoming Aqualuna 2...I remember thinking back on that one not knowing which design really became the "winner"...the Aqualuna 2 is definitely one that I will keep my eyes out for in 2010.

Like you, that extra HEV design element with the orange accented HEV valve highlight that plays off the orange in the dial really caught my attention...really love that!!!hand6.gif

I have a feeling that 2010 will end with this one in the watch box somehow...
