Thanks for this info.  Wireless are nice, but have only had this one roller type.  Will check out the optical ones. 

It's hard to believe anything can be simpler and easier on the user than the ball type.

What I don't get is why businesses use the other type where one has to move it all over the bloody desk in order to get the cursor where it's needed.......horrible!

For more money you can get a wireless optical mouse. I personally haven't found one I like, but many people love them. I use one on my PC, but I use a wired mouse on my MAC.
