maybe this will help, it's been a while since I played with all three gmt movements at the same time.

from a wus post..

With the Rolex GMT II and Omega GMT movements the 12hr hand adjusts in one hour increments without adjusting anything else (except the date) and without stopping the watch—i.e., it keeps running w/o hacking, is that the correct way to say it? With watches based on the ETA 2893-2 movement, when you want to adjust the 12hr hand, the watch stops and the minute and 24 hr hands adjust with it. The 24 hr hand adjusts in one hour increments independently. It seems the latter type GMT set-up is the most common vs. the Rolex/Omega set-up. There are of course some GMT/UTC watches in which the 24hr hand and 12 hr hand are always linked (Night Train) and don't keep time in two time zones or in which they are not independent, but you can turn the 24 hr. bezel for a second time zone.

The purists would argue that the Rolex/Omega gmt adjustment is the "correct" way to adjust a GMT but honestly I have never thought the eta method was really a problem, especially with a rotating bezel.
