In today's economy it's hard to move up in the world,
no matter if it's a job promotion or in personal finances.
Moving up in watch ownership had seldom crossed my mind,
as my uncle and I sat down on Tuesday afternoon at
his house.

We've talked about moving up to the next level,he
looked at the pair of my Movado watches and evaluated
them. On the desk were valet boxes of watches of various
brands. He passed me a Stainless Steel Rolex 6694
Precision with the Rolex caliber 1210,a 17 Jewel Manual Wind on Oyster Bracelet to try on. The asking price was $1,495 without trade in.
With the trade-in, I was going to pay $820.

Next came an Stainless Steel Omega Pie Pan Constellation on matching bead of rice bracelet. This watch fitted me like a glove.
The asking price was $ 1,275 without trade in.
With the trade-in the difference was $600.

I couldn't afford in owning either of them, but instead of
walking away empty handed. He bought the watches from
me for $675. However, I came upon an Omega bumper wind
in gold filled case from 1952,at a local pawnshop earlier today
on my lunch break...the price $325.

The thing that killed the deal that it was in a pawnshop.

Cheers,
Simon
