I don't understand the dislike of the Miyota. It's a good time keeper (more accurate than lower end Seiko and ETA in my experience), runs forever with minimal attention, and if it does die on you it's cheap enough to just drop in a new one.
I don't think there is a real dislike of Myota, as long as the price point is in line with a less expensive movement. That said; there are those who shy away from it. Different strokes, etc.etc.
