I ended up recommending the Debaufre Nav-B, which I know is tough to find, but it was out of her price range. She knows it's tough to find a moderately priced watch with those specs (sapphire, automatic, 46mm+, solid lume and no numerals). Her husband (another WIS), said that she needs a watch you can read clearly from 30 feet away (the equivalent of about 1 foot for her).
I appreciate everyone's great suggestions. 3T is a great community. I will keep searching. I think she is looking for sub $400.
