It has the slots so I'm sure it needs the tool. I see them really cheap on eBay. I know you get what you pay for but to do this on an inexpensive watch every few years I'm sure it will be fine. Problem now is I type for a living and at the moment it's pretty difficult! Just had to try one more time with a screwdriver and I put a very big one in my fingers... just short of needing stitches. I'm laughing about it now, but my... I can be such a stubborn idiot. It's not the money so much, it's that I just think it's dumb that you have to take an inexpensive watch to a jeweler to have the battery changed. Oh well! I think I'll just buy a cheap tool. Thanks everyone, and please don't anyone express sympathy. I deserve what I got! Peter
