No need to apologize. In going back and looking at the Ofrei site it states this strap requires a special spring bar (03). I'm gonna order up a set of those and see if that solves the issue.
And I'm just guessing this isn't the real deal. A part number is easy enough to stamp on anything. JMHO, but the rubber seems to stiff and brittle to chanre $200 for... I would be disappointed if I spent full price but I'm not at the price we paid. Its all a learning experience and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who failed to get this one on. I gave up pretty easy and had my silicon strap on in 20 seconds...
Thanks for the Ofrei reference to the "special spring bar" Mark!!! I certainly had not seen that before.
I may order up some of those as well (heck, if they end up being factory bent...that's going to be a real head slapper)!!!
I agree with your thoughts that this may not be the real deal...although, I'm amazed that a fake would have that impregnated, high durometer material between the spring bar holes and where the strap contacts the case...just seems like it would be expensive to manufacture (and a step above a typical knockoff). I'm almost tempted to take mine with me to an AD, share the story, and compare it to what they have direct from Omega.
