I was following this auction on the Bay...Sure enough, it's not often that a minty Dread´ makes it to the bay and as it was stipulated "Very low reserve for this piece of horological history." in the listing, I thought that I would get a look to the end.
Low reservesubtlelaugh.gif?
Let's see:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320591709493&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1154
Seems like everybody went tired bidding at 1800$, except the top guy who was on "automatic biding...
I resume: The watch was costing 450£ or around 720$ when it came out of TimeFactor in 2003.
After that, somes sold for 1500$ and even one sold for 2061$ in june 2004(facts from the Dread´net site:http://www.prs2dreadnought.com/review.htm
I must have missed some episodes in the dynasty of this watch who ?supposedly? went way over those prices, as the reserve was so "...very low..." on this blasted piece presented on the Bay..???mistake.gifdog smile.gif
Anyway, even the watch was made in only 200 pieces and never made again, it's still housing a 2824-2(chrono-grade yes...) and nothing else.
Seems like many understood that from 2000 buks: There's a deal of inhouse to get down there...
I went over(like many others) a mint Alpina Avalanche Extreme Regulateur Manufacture(meaning 100% inhouse movement) who was selling for 1688$ (starting bid) until last week: Nobody clicked this one.
So here we go guys: The madness and speculation for the PRS-2 seems to die and it was maybe time as there's a bunch of wilder watches out there at better pricesmuppet.gif
By the way, I was personnaly not willing to offer more than 1200 for it: Why?
Well, it's a nice watch but not mystified in my eyes.
Watches of this quality grade and even with cases made by Fricker(even in low quantity batch), don't have to cost over 2000 buks.... Remember ,Eddie proved it in 2003.
