Will, these have steadily shot up in value due o the exclusivity of the piece. Eddie Platts puts together very nice watches and the Dread is thought by many to be his best. You see these selling for just north of 2k on the forums. The Dread is a true grail for many due to its robust spec, place in horological history and its exclusivity.

Be aware that "in-house" movement on the Alpina is a reworked (by Selitta) 6498 so not truly a manufacture movement.

Thanks for the info on the Alpina Mark. Anyway, the interest for this PRS-2 piece wasn't there above the 2K...
My point was that from 2K, you can have access to other slightly used inhouse models: You know that as I do.
Here's a new:http://cgi.ebay.com/Zenith-Class-Chrono-El-Primero-HW-02-0500-420-24-M501-/200523918945?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2eb0282e61#ht_4470wt_1206
I don't mind about the status of watches in the forums: There's a lot a guys there who would pay thousands just for a name.
From my side: From 720 to over 2000 buks, I call this a kind of Mass Hysteria.
You know as me that a bunch of WIS are wearing a watch just to impress them neighbourgh.
It's not the first time that a watch of this quality level is made and not the last time either, even at low quantity, and it don't need to rise at this price level.
Seems like many persons agreed with that when looking at this international auction...
Speaking of icone and quality: I would better have a Primero.
