The moving parts/ ends of the springbars were solid.  I ended up knocking them out with a small hammer.  No movement there......Almost as if there was Loctite or some glue preventing any movement....weird!
Anyway, now all is well, with new springbars and a black rubber strap with orange stitching mounted.

My philosophy totally...never force anything, just use a larger hammer!subtlelaugh.gif
