Marc, when I speak about better pieces, I don't specialy mean new pieces: 1958 is not so far ago, the 1530 movement isn't a huge achievement either. Here's one for under 3000buks: http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-Rolex-Explorer-1530-Movement-Dial-Vintage-RARE-/300457467794?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f4a91f92#ht_500wt_1156 The guy even don't show the state of the movement: With all the diving he had with it so late in the watche's life, it may be all rusted... I observed a while ago an original Egiziano Panerai(one of 56 pieces ever made for the Egyptian navy in the 50's): Still here but way out of line ![]() http://cgi.ebay.com/Panerai-GPF-2-56-Vintage-Egyptian-Angelus-8-Day-/350329450974?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item51914331de#ht_1420wt_905 At list, the fact that only 50 pieces was ever made, can justify the very high price...? Even the movement is a basic(for this time) Angelus 240. When you are about to put 63000 in a watch: There's older, better mech, rarer pieces... That's what I mean.
