I think I have owned every model of Suunto at one time or another. Currently wearing a Vector but am getting ready to make another Suunto purchase Quality: Although Suunto had some software issues with the initial Core release, everything seems to have been taken care of. I had one of the first Core models, one of the buttons malfunctioned and I sent it in for repair. They sent me a new watch. Customer service is outstanding. Durability: The Observer and the XLander are probably the most durable due to SS and Aluminium construction. I owned both and the construction is notably better than that of some of the other models. However, I remember seeing a documentary on US Special Forces in Afganistan, they all seemed to be wearing Suunto Vectors. That would seem to answer the durability question. The only other thing would be positive or negative displays. Some of the negative displays are VERY hard to read. I had an Observer/Xlander/Vector with negative displays and they were fine. I had an Extreme Core with a negative display and I couldn't read the darn thing. I currently have my eye on the new Core Extreme with a positive display. I have heard really good things about it. Hope that helps.
