 I'd even go a step further and say that as long as it's current owners are watch enthusiasts -- which many of the smaller boutique manufacturers clearly are -- I'm interested. 

I agree that a group of investors with no interest in watches other than profit has no interest for me.

The difficulty comes in discerning between the two.  Presence and participation on the various watch forums would be a good indication.
