Steve Laughlin wrote:I don't think I made my point... which was if I had $5,000 to spend on the PAM, I would... even if it has the ETA. I would be buying the Panerai name and style, not the specs. And I would know for myself that it is real and not a fake. I think buying a brand is a big part of watch collecting. And just a side note...Panerai doesn't even use double dome sapphire like we do, so I know where they cut corners to save a dollar. Steve, I don't think that Panerai is a right exemple on a Big-Bang for the buks when we speak eta versions or even inhouse...Panerai is overpriced and very known for that. For me, the name isn't everything. From and above 1500$, I start to target inhouse movements on my side. So if I was about to crack 5000buks for a watch, it would be 100% inhouse or nothing. I also saw the PAM 359 for 6500buks BNIB, so if you are about to make a jump around the 5000buks, it may be worth to put 1500 more to get a new inhouse or buy a used one for 5000 maybe... I personnaly think that the eta versions of Panerai will decrease much in value after a while, when them inhouse models will start to show-up cheaper on the used market: Just my feeling...
