I did a little more checking on the Sag Harbor Bulova watch factory. They actually made watch cases ,and did alot of gold/silver and gold filled cases. It was built in 1881, and actually was open if I read some of the articles correctly into the early 1970's. They apparently dumped large amounts of toxic wastes directly into the buildings drains, causing major ground water contamination, and it is listed as a super-fund site.
