This new Hamilton Khaki Officer arrival is a piece that was not even remotely on my radar…one of those that I ran across out of the blue having never seen this particular Hamilton model before even though it has been out for quite a while (you guys know the drill…browsing the web late at night just kind of looking around at WIS stuff 1) Really cool looking vintage tan lume 2) Sweet spot (for me anyway) 44mm case dimension and excellently designed clean dial layout 3) The not very often seen ETA 2895-2 27 jewel automatic movement with Small Seconds Dial at the 6 o’clock position (and for a very reasonable price!) The only negative that had me concerned was the standard Nubuck leather strap, as I’m not a big fan of Nubuck leather anything, but it’s not that bad in person and plays nicely with that vintage looking lume. I will no doubt be experimenting with some different straps options on this one. Really like the look and feel of this one on the wrist, and those that have experienced the ETA 2895-2 automatic (or the derived from 2892-2 for that matter) know that this is a great movement and one of the smoothest, silkiest movements to wind by hand. I only have one other piece with the ETA 2895-2, but I can say that I like the movement very much. As I said, I’m liking this one quite a bit out of the gate!
