The 300m Tuna Can was what first got me into the shrouded Seiko divers in the first place, and have been looking around for one for quite some time, and one finally came up that fit the bill![]() ![]() First of, it´s a quartz. and yes, I know that turns quite a few in here off, but on the + side, it´s a high-torque, adjustable quartz. So as Quartz´come, this is pretty sweet, and that seconds hand jump with the speed of light. And the accuracy on this mvt is normally A LOT better than that of "regular" quartz, and I believe it´s also termo-compansated. Only had mine for a few days now, so can´t really say that much on this specific watch (but at least has not missed a beat on the atomic clock so far ...) It´s a bit smaller than it´s bigger brother the Emperor, but what really dwarfs it, is the tallness. While the Emperor sits 17mm tall, the 300m Tuna is 14mm tall (not that much, but the smaller shroud, and general design, makes it look a lot smaller IMO. The Emperor is 52mm in diameter, an the 300m is 47,5mm. ![]() ![]() As more or less all Seikos, the lume is nuclear on this also ...(photo not really the best to show the lume, but take my word for it:0) ![]() This version comes on a rubber strap that looks identical to the normal Seiko Z22 strap, but has the markings "DALOAS" on it, and is much softer an more flexible than the Z22. As far as i know the 300m is the only one of the Tunas with this strap. Currently have it on the B22 strap of my Emperor (as seen in photos) It has a domed hardlex crystal that sits a bit over the bezel, making the center the highest point on the watch (so most used ones have some minor scratches here, mine is pristine:0) No signed crown on this one (most prospex divers has) And the screws on the shroud are Phillips screws, and not hex as on the Emperor and Darth Tuna. This just ads to the tool-diver feel IMHO, and not something I give much thought. Also, no exotic materials in use here, SS all the way. Everything is polished, except the shroud, which is sand blasted. Only thing I´m not super happy with is that the day/date does not line up perfectly. Not sure if this is only my watch, but from what I can see on others in forums etc, there are some misalignment's going on. But, other than that, I couldn´t be happier with the 300m Tuna Can. And a keeper 4 sure. Last edited on Fri Sep 30th, 2011 08:17 pm by FnuSnu99 |
