you need to file a international claim with the USPS immediately...instructions are below. File an Insurance Claim Most of the 700 million pieces of mail we handle every year arrive safely, but when things don’t go as planned we want to get any issues resolved quickly. Because international claims require coordination with a foreign postal service, they’re handled differently than domestic claims. Call our International Inquiry Center at 1-800-222-1811 to get started. You’ll need to have the following information about your package…
When can you file an international claim? No sooner than 3 days or the guaranteed delivery date. 2. No sooner than 3 days or the estimated delivery day. 3. 30 days to submit an inquiry for delayed delivery; 90 days to submit an inquiry for the loss, damage, or missing contents of an item. 4. The Postal Service® accepts inquiries for Priority Mail International flat rate envelopes and small Flat Rate Boxes only if the sender had purchased registered service. What do you need to file an international claim? 1 - Approval from our International Inquiry Center Call 1-800-222-1811 to start your claim and get an international claim form. 2 - Evidence of Insurance You’ll need the original mailing receipt. Unfortunately, we can’t accept photocopies. ![]() 3 - Evidence of Value You’ll also need documents to show the item’s value or repair costs, such as sales receipts or invoices. ![]() What if I’m the recipient of a damaged international shipment? If you receive an article that was sent from abroad that is damaged or has some contents missing, take it to any Post Office™ right away. Be sure to bring the item, the mailing container, wrapping, packaging, and any other contents. The Post Office will verify the damage and have you complete a claim form. The package may have to be returned to its country of origin to complete this claim.
