It is a well built watch and I enjoy mine a lot. (the IWC Aquatimer continues to be on my wish list)

Regarding the Prometheus brand specifically, I've got to agree with Phil on this one...they have a number of Prometheus specific designs in the lineup along with designs inspired by or homages to some legendary great ones from the big brands. This seems to be the case for the majority of micros.

To say "no imagination" and "just copies" seems to be a bit harsh, but to each his own. peace.gif

Please show me these specific designs that are truly unique only to Prometheus?...this new Poseidon is nothing more than a re-branded replica imho.

The Ocean Diver (available as a 3-hander, GMT, and the Chrono version) would be the first one that comes to mind as unique.

(maybe you are saying this is a catalog case, which would be unknown to me?)

yes, catalog case and in its 1st form with the dual crown was a vintage IWC Aquatimer homage...or any of the dozen or so compressor cased watches of the 70's...later on was a design contest watch(the chrono version)...
for the most part all of the micros as Phil said have copied from some other brand and do nothing more than shift parts from a catalog from one design to the next... please don't get me started on the sister brand of Prometheus,Borealis, this brand is cheap from the get go...sharp edges on any watch brand turn me off... if you can't have at least a decent fit and finish than why bother...maybe revisiting this thread will open some eyes...

Well, I don't get your point Oscar. You say this is simply a catalog case, and note that a compressor style case is simply copying a bunch of vintage compressors from the 70's. Come on, one can still have something unique while following the basic compressor form.

I'm familiar with a number of catalog cases being used across the landscape, but I would say this is a case I haven't seen anywhere else. If this is a catalog case, I don't see any evidence of that.

I cannot comment on Borealis (did not know it was a sister brand, mainly because the designs don't appeal to me enough to learn anything about the brand). I do, however, have a few of their 22mm vulcanized rubber straps, and at $15 bucks a pop, they are a screaming deal IMO.

I skimmed your link on the OD...someone I don't know took the time to write this nicely detailed and long review, and despite a few minor niggles, he summarizes by saying he really likes his OD chronograph.

I only have 2 Prometheus watches, the Sailfish and Poseidon, and based on my experience with watches at a number of price points from micro to big brand, I still say that BOTH of these offer incredible bang for the buck. Fit/finish is great on both which, of course, is just my opinion...but I'm just sayin'.
