I would suggest cycling but this time of year when it is below about 28 degrees it is too cold .Above about 28 I wear wool and lots of it .I ride a fixed wheel bicycle for better traction.In the summer cycling is better but too efficient you might gain weight with the appetite you work up.It is a great way to get to know an area and it is easy to come up on deer without  them realizing it. I did about a mile and a half thursday it was in the 30's and sunny.It is really cool being out and about on a bike when no one else would dare it, or at least precious few.
