Cannon.......................welcome to 3T and thank you for your comments.  Not sure who you are or if your comments have a vested interest or not...I would hope not.  To find that you are surprised to read criticisms of Oceans7 or any brand on a watch forum surprises me and arouses my curiosity.  Your post sounds kind of like a marketing spiel, et al!

There is praise and criticism a virally every brand on every reasonable forum (although one runs the risk of being flamed, if not banned, on WUS for criticizing Oceans7).  Read the criticisms of Rolex, ZENO, Hamilton, et al....along with the praise.  Different people have different opinions.

I, for one, did email Oceans7, with a question.  The curt, condescending reply (yes, it was quick), was what actually turned me off on the company.  That opinion could change, as did my opinion of ORSA based upon improved performance.

That said, hopefully, you will take this post in the light in which it is intended, and, unless your sole purpose for posting was to point out how wrong we might be, we look forward, we look forward to continued contributions from you on a variety of threads.

Hello, well I will introduce myself again since my first post was deleted. I am new to this forum but not new to watch forums. I own or have owned many watches discussed. They include Doxa's, Kobolds, Ocean7's, Orsa's, Bathys, Timefactors, Everest's, Damasko's, Sinn's, Zeno's etc... I have shared my opinions on watches I have owned on many forums. I share the good and bad. I have no vested interest in Ocean7 or any other brand. However I do have a problem with individuals who bad mouth or put down watches or brands based nothing more than on speculation. I decided to post in this thread originally because I took offense to people posting personal opinions as facts. I have learned through private messages that because I mentioned brands whose owners are friends with the owner of this forum my post was deleted. It's a real shame that an open discussion can't take place here.

Ken, I personally would love to read the email that was sent to Ocean7 and their response that turned you off on the company. Any chance you can share it?

No..............I really don't have that email (i'm not a saver), but I can paraphrase it for you.  I sent an email that said I had just found the WUS Oceans7 site, and while I was not interested in the LM-1.  The LM-2 design was intriguing to me (especially as a Glycine fan).  I asked to be notified when it was released or to put me on a waiting list for one (sort of a pre-order thing) as I was interested in getting one.

I received a reply back that I thought was curt and condescending if not arrogant.  The reply was words to the effect that Oceans7 did not maintain a waiting list, and if I wanted a watch I could keep checking the forum like everybody else!

That said, I find people who bad mouth our forum members as to their watch knowledge and experience based on nothing more than speculation and then turn around and decide that their opinions are fact and the opinions of others are merely opinions somewhat offensive myself.

Yes, your intial post was briefly deleted because it was abrasive in the way you attacked members and vendors based soley on your opinion (which I guess you consider fact) and because it was blatantly promotional to the point that Oscar and I wondered if your were an Oceans7 employee.  We then decided to repost it.

As to open discussions, we have plenty here.  The discussion of Oceans7 is open.  You just didn't like it because it didn't reflect your opinion.  I think certain brands suck that others love.....I, for one, do not think I would ever own an Omega (well, maybe a vintage) because I find their design mundane and uninspired.  Most, vehemently disagree with me.  So, should I blast them for being closed minded?  Your opinion about this forum and its owners are just that......your opinions.  If you had taken time to really see what goes on in this forum, you would see that regardless of the owner's relationship with ORSA, that brand has been flamed from time to time.  On the other hand, one of our admins praises Oceans7 to the hilt.

Bottom line, look in the mirror and talk to that guy about having an open mind and a little respect for the this forum.  If you can convince him that is the right road to travel, then you are welcome here.  If not, you may enjoy yourself much more on a forum where people agree with you rather than having to put up with reading alternative points of view.
