 Back in the day (I'm not sure when the day began or ended) Wittnauer was Longines' second brand.  Much like Tissot was the second brand of Omega.

I own a couple of very nice vintage Wittnauers. 

They were well made watches and while I would not consider them on par with Omegas of the day (the Omegas had manufacture movements) they are great bargains in the vintage market.
