Pink Flamingo Tournament runs this weekend in De Pere

Part sporting event, part festival, the Pink Flamingo is a good time no matter how you look at it. It's the 14th year for the slo-pitch tournament that raises money for local service clubs and organizations. The bulk of the action is on the ball diamond Friday night through Sunday night, but the parade on Saturday morning has become a popular draw all its own (something about every float having candy). New this year is the 5K Run/Walk with the Flamingos, which will step off in front of the parade. Participants are encouraged to wear flamingo garb. A $10 registration fee gets you a T-shirt, which organizers promise will either be "a collector's item or perfect for washing cars.'' Registration is at 7 a.m., followed by the race at 8:30 a.m. and the parade at 9 a.m. Back at the park, the fun includes an inflatable playground for kids, booyah, brats, beer and awards for fans and players.
