I like Mark's comments on the differences between the two watches. As an owner of both a Sinn and a Fortis I will state my opinion that a Fortis lacks nothing when compared to Sinn. And I certainly am not implying Mark has made that distinction. For this comparison I went Sinn simply because I find the dial more legible. I am certain either of the two would stand up to stiff punishment. Sinn really does pack a lot of punch into their watches, designing them purposely to withstand extreme temperatures, magnetism and moisture. As for my 256TA, the thing is the only 7750 I have left and has never let me down though worn roughly from time to time. ![]() Fortis in collaboration with Rosaviacosmos, the Russian Space Agency, has built their watches to withstand extreme conditions. I believe Fortis holds the distinction of having the first automatic winding chronograph in space. Fortis watches have also spent plenty of time in extravehicular space where temperatures can vary from -150C to +180C depending on whether or not you are in shadow or sunlight. Fortis has taken feedback directly from cosmonauts on their needs and performance. While my Fortis is only a three hander and has only been with me short while, I can say the watch is extremely solid inside and out. I too wondered at why Fortis commanded such a premium, but when I saw CJ's B-42 Marinemaster I knew the thing was virtually bombproof. The premium was well deserved... ![]() So really this a toss up. I guess Fortis commands just as heavy a toll as Sinn and for good reason in my mind. I also just wanted to gratuitously post some pix of my pair...
