My beater that I use for Mountain Biking is a Luminox Quartz chrono, all SS. But I couldn't spend a week with only that one watch. I'd have to take something more desirable, even if it is just to look at every day or two to remind me of the finer things. I don't really believe in babying my watches, unless it is an activity that I am sure will cause damage... like Mountain Biking would on an auto movement (or supposedly so). For example, I wore my Doxa T-Graph on a recent fishing trip that involves everything from reaching into the bait bucket, to grappling with toothy fish, to collecting firewood, playing horseshoes, drunken stumbles, swimming (sometimes not intentionally) and cooking over an open fire. The Doxa arrived home in stellar condition, with only a quick refreshing of the clasp with a Scotch pad. Your Fortis is a brushed finish, therefore all but the bezel is refreshable if the need were to arise. If the worst happened and you did ding it, consider it a reminder of the wonderful week you spent in the woods with your family. Character marks.
