Funny you should say that....one of the reasons I started to question my own 'elitism' was that posts here regarding new quartz arrivals were NOT getting that kind of response.

You make a really good point about the 'wife factor'.......One thing that I hadn't thought about that will finally swing it for me is that relaxing my 'no quartz' rule is certainly going to make my wife happier! hearteyes.gif  (well until she realizes that while the price of each one might be lower, the USPS guy is coming more frequently!!!)

I have noticied a bit of movement elitism since I joined the forum. One reason I stopped posting to the "new arivals" section is the inevtiable, "yes, but it's only a quartz movement" comment. I am now trading off many of my automatics because I'm tired of having to reset my automatics before I put them on the wrist. Yes, I do have six auto winders but that too is a bit of a pain as well. I'll put my Omega Seamaster (yes, it's only a quartz) up against your automatic Seamaster any day. I can deal with the hassle of replacing a battery every couple of years for the accuracy and convenience of my quartz.

The only relevant criteria are (1) do YOU like it and (b) can you afford it? I frequently violate the second criteria much to my wife's dismay. I just got a $99 Sthurling Pilot quartz movement that I like, enjoy and wear more than several watches costing 20 times more.
It isn't a question of right/wrong good/bad. Maybe you don't prefer a quartz movement but some of us do. There's more than enough room for both kinds of movements.
