Yeah, it sounds like that was the case; an overly enthusiastic application of oil. You know, 'cause if a little bit is good, then a lot must be better, right? So many times with these vintage pieces, it's hard to know how healthy they really are, so it will surely be nice to have the piece of mind that a professional has taken it apart, made it right, and given it his seal of approval. 6309-7040's have always had a way of displacing the other watches in my collection for daily wear....something about that classic design.
