Not necessarily true...those that are responsible for mission coordination, response and execution are acutely aware of the need for not only accuracy, but also reliability.  A good watch will save your life!

I personally wore a Glycine Airman purchased at the PX for about $50.00....but then again, $50 was a lot of money back in 1964.  It served me faithfully and is still keeping accurate time today!...and no, I was not a WIS back then!
