 Good points made by all here. I would just throw in as a comment on both of your questions. The expensive watch, say Rolex, will not depreciate as quickly as the more moderatley priced watch and in some cases depending on supply and demand (Limited editions, etc) may appreciate.

In many ways your analogy to automobiles is spot on. Especially considering depreciation.

Buy what you like and want to wear and damn the torpedoes!! Which Orient is onthe way from Marc at IW??
