The vx200 uses a eta 2824-2 which has 25j....the Astronaut uses a GMT movement 2893-2 which happens to have 21j....so the complication generally doesn't always require more jewels(to keep friction down) until you get into watches with more complications.....you will find many cheap Asian 3 hand watches using 35j for whatever reason:?...a watch really only needs 18j to run adequatelyhand6.gif
Question: Why does the Accutron VX200, without GMT, have a 25-jewel movement, while the Astronaut, with GMT, has a 21-jewel movement?
I am new to this, but logic would seem to dictate that the more complex GMT movement would require more jewels.
