All this hullabaloo has kept me away from the brand altogether despite appreciating some of their designs. I know its almost always a safe bet to go with a tried and true Miyota movement, but this whole Gematic bull and the subterfuge around the "modified" movements has always put a bad taste in my mouth. Thanks Avery for confirming it!
