I am new to watches, and I was wondering if Russian watches are any good.  Specifically, I have been to websites selling Aviator/Duran/Sturmanskie models (I think they're all made by the same company?) and -- on a computer screen, anyway -- they often look pretty good and are cheaper than their Swiss or German counterparts.  Are they as good the German models that cost 50%-100% more but look similar? (internally, as well as externally)  Is there any greater risk of getting a fraud when ordering a Russian watch (as Russia and Eastern Europe are the source of plenty of knockoffs).  Are there particular movements that should be avoided? Any distributors that are recommended?  I did happen to notice that longislandwatch.com and rugift.com are noticeably less expensive than most other sites.

Thank you for any advice.  I have my eye on a Poljot Buran Mechanical 26660/2751364, which vaguely resembles a Jorg Schauer model that is 10X more expensive.
