To continue consuming the earth's resources at a reckless rate robs our children and only enriches those who already are consumed by greed. The battle in the Mideast is about more than religion or tribalism. Its also about who will controll our dwindling resources. Its Time for some Tech Talk about alternatives to fossil fuels.

There are things that can be done. Convert your home to a combination of solar and wind power. Can you afford to do that? I know I can't at this point in my life. I hope to build a home someday and incorporate these things. Do you drive a Prius or some other such hybrid vehicle? I don't and probably won't. Those vehicles are just as bad for the environment as a gas guzzling suv. They actually generate more pollution producing just one of those, than it takes to produce a Jeep Cherokee. Additionally, what about those batteries that have to be replaced every 3 to 7 years? There's a recycling nightmare right there. I don't say these things as an attack. I'm merely using them to illustrate the pitfalls of some of the courses of action that could be taken. I personally am a big believer in the wind/sun power thing. There are plenty of examples of people who have done that and have NO dependence on the power companies. They even get paid by the power companies, because the excess they generate in their homes is fed back into the power supply.
