 Basically, retrograde means:   to move in a direction contrary to the usual one

So, your retrograde minute hand will go to 60 and then snap backwards to the zero (reverse direction/counterclockwise)

Gerald Genta's the brand to check out; he does retro hours, mins, secs--the whole 9 yds.

Can someone here fill me in on what "Retrograde" means. I know it refers to the hand that sweeps back and forth instead of around and around, but is there any history or significance other than that? Why that word to describe it?
