Hey guys, Got an itch for a new watch and want something different, perhaps a 24hr. watch. I am considering a Glycine Airman 17. Does anyone own this watch, have some good information on it, etc? I'm concern about its size 46mm. I'm worry that it would be too big for my 6.76 wrist. Please chime in, I would love to collect as much first knowledge as possible before I test the water with the wife. Also a good AD recommendation would help too since this isn't a cheap watch. I have about a 7.25 wrist and have that Formex which is 48mm and a GV2 at 52mm and they ride OK. Kind of depends on the lugs too. I've looked at a few Glycines and have been told this is one of the best places online to get them. http://www.falconwatch.com |

I don't have any direct knowledge of this model but will say I like ti a lot and think its a winner. I do own two Glycines and they are a great underrated brand imho. The watch is a large size for your wrist but it appears the lugs curve downward and might give you a comfortable fit. It would be easier to see in a profile shot. Actually the shots at Worldlux show the caseback and the curved lugs so you should be OK. It always cool to wear an oversize watch imo! Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!....I have a 7" wrist and I would consider 46mm too large for me. With you wrist size, why not consider the Glycine Airman 18? Both the 17 (46mm) and the 18 (38mm) are the same watch sized differently. My original Airman (of which the 17 and 18 are homages) is 36mm and wears nicely. The 24 hour dial is special, and the nice thing about these two models that is missing on many 24 hour dials, is that the "back" of the hour hand is shaped like a dagger pointing back to the 12 hour time, making it quick and easy to read (for those not used to a 24 hr dial)! |

Thanks Guys! KenC - I want something in 40mm - 44mm. I think 38mm is too small for today's standard. I did notice Glycine just came out with Airman Special II, which is a 42mm. Rare...I saw that a few days ago and have 2 problems with it. 1) The 24 hr dial is "funky" and out of character as it has the "12" at the top. Traditional placement has the "24" at the top of the dial on a true 24hour dial. 2) It is an LE of 100 which in itself is wonderful, however, Glycine has put a huge premium on it at 2000CHF (Swiss Francs - about $1850) plus shipping and "duty". I called Falcon Watch but they are on vacation until Feb. 1. I will try to give them a call again on Friday about Airman 17. Meanwhile, my hunt continues.... |

I actualy like that the 12 is on top. One of the things I like with the fortis gmt-watch too. Not that many watches have that. I might be in in the minority on this one though, I guess thats why there are of them. |

I like the apparent logic behind having the 12:00 (high noon) at top center. You have your normal daylight hours on the top half of the watch and night on the bottom. That said, it would really mess me up to switch between that watch and any other watch in my collection.  |
