I have ordered a Precista, and relaly look forward to the old Seamaster style. However, I've seen some similar Psudo Ruhla brand watches (Kronos) and other variations thereof like the British navy CWC or Broadarrow. I'm tempted ot get a cheaper version (on nylon strap) of the Pseudo Ruhla. Is it a good watch - the kovement should be, as it's an ETA. I have also been drawn to the Ollech & Wajs lines and one of the Dievas (too bad it's quartz, and I've only been willing to splurge on a really special coillectable quartz like the Seiko Tuna). Look forward to expert opinions.

The Psudo Ruhla are not bad looking watches and with the Eta 2824 inside not a bad price point on them either. Last Summer I looked at getting one a few times and it always got back burnered for another watch LOL

Maybe I'll snag one some day just to have a good beater like that in the collection.

Never really looked at the O&W watches much though but I have heard they are not a bad watch for the price either.

Well, I can recommend the O&W watches, as I own 2 myself (M5 and Cougar). Quality of them is amazing except the bracelet of the M5. Compared to most of my watches, they seem to be a bit small (39mm), but they are very comfortable to wear and are in between + - 3 sec. per day. Considering the price, the O&W brand offers great value IMHO!

I do also own a Kronos quartz:

it does not even come close to the O&W's quality but then it was a really cheap beater (paid around $50). Cannot comment on the ETA based Ruhla "Hommage" so. But at its price tag, I'd personally always choose an O&W.

all the best

Jan

hey,
timefactors watches r great man. ive handled a few that my mates got and they r well build and have good traditional military styling, cant go wrong. i myself bought some O&Ws, good watches with a large variety of designs, well worth the money. Ruhlas formt he bay.ive hard good things about them. however i do have a some reservations about their ETA movements though, r they real swiss or chinese clones? There snothign wrong with chinese clones as long as they dont falsely advertise them i guess.

just my 2c smile8.gifsmile8.gif

I can recommend them all, I have an O&W 7750 that is a favorite of mine, nice build quality though I ditched the bracelet for a NATO style.  The Pseudo Ruhla is a go to beater, no lume to speak of but if I need it that bad I could do a MKII redial/hands.  My Precista chrono is quartz, but Time Factors makes an awesome watch!

Cheers,
Griff

Thank you very much for your suggestions; I feel comfortable in making another purchase - soon .....have to put the thrust reverser on my 'paypal habit' - and I have yet to receive two watches that I look forward to seeing. But it's good to keep looking out for prey. I may end up getting one of the PRS from West Coast, the broadarrow, or a Kronos.

I have two of Ray's watches (Kronos). Actually Ray is a great guy to deal with and his watches are fairly priced. I have the SBS style and the Suedo Ruhla, both great "every day" watches for when you don't mind getting your watch dinged or scratched. I've had both for years, both automatic 2824 movement. After about a year I had a problem with the crown threading down properly on the Suedo Ruhla. I emailed Ray and he asked me to send the watch back to him. A couple of weeks later I received a brand new watch and the bezel on the new one was also nice and tight. The straps that originally come on the watches are crap but I swapped them out. I can't complain about his watches. Excellent for the $$$.

Demo:

Did you have new hands installed?  Also how is the lume on the dial?

Crue4,

Those hands are the original hands. If you check out Ray's web store you will see he puts together his watches with several hand / dial variations. The lume is weak. There is lots of lume coverage with the hands and hour markers, but the lume fades very quickly.
