good morning i hope you all are having a great weekend! i need some advice.
i have saved almost enough cash(aka money my wife knows nothing about) and want to buy a doxa 1000t caribbean or a doxa 750t gmt caribbean. i would like to know where i could shop for one of these, outside of the doxawatches.com because i would like to pay less then full retail. is this even possible for a watch like this? any advice would be great and thank you all for your time!

Unless you can find one on a sales forum pre-owned only Doxa and retail AD's carry Doxa watcheshand6.gif ....returning Doxa customers get a nice discount over the site prices via e-mail upon release of new Doxas as well as what is in stock yourock.gif

Returning customers get a nice discount on all Doxa watches by simply ordering via phone or by contacting Doxa via online chat.  The discount goes away at the end of March, though...

If you're a new customer I'd look for a nice used one, paying close attention to the condition of the polished outer bezel, which is a bit of a scratch magnet.  I've seen a few decent deals lately on Caribbeans on various watch forums.  If you've never owned a Doxa Sub before you're in for a treat!  They're great watches!  hand6.gif

This is a great place to search most of the major forums for what you need from the secondary market.

ok, here is the deal because i still need advice. doxa.com is at $2490 toppers is at $2241 but i lose the better pricing on my next doxa purchase. my question is how long is the doxa second purchase deal a deal? is it forever or just until march 2008? and that is a lot of cash at least to a guy like myself for a watch, so maybe i should wait. i take really good care of my watches so i hate to buy used and get the marked up bezel like i was warned about here. anymore thoughts or advice? one last thing if i was a returning buyer at doxa.com the watch would be around $1600 that is a huge savings. thoughts...

It ends March 08 for everyone!

AD's are only allowed to discount Doxas up to 10% and Doxa is really strict about these prices. The best option is used but......used prices will also be going thru the roof once the returning discount goes away. If you must have new, there are no deals to be had, other than the 10%.

Remember, also, that if you purchase direct from DOXA, it is shipped FedEx...and FedEx will hound you to death for the custom's charges!

I would also query DOXA if a purchase from any AD qualifies you as a returning customer or whether it must be a direct buy from DOXA.

A returning customer is someone who has made a DIRECT purchase from DOXA SA. This does not include purchases from other retail locations, third party dealers, forum members, etc. More importantly, the Returning Customer Discount is only available to Returning Customers who purchase DIRECTLY from DOXA.

. Customs Note: Orders may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Fedex will bill you on behalf of the customs authorities within 10 days of receiving your watch. Additional charges for customs clearance must be paid by the recipient(based on the purchase price in USD). Customs policies vary widely depending on your country and state of residence. below are the average amounts collected by the local customs authorities (through Fedex):

6. USA : customs and duties are prepaid by DOXA

Europe: VAT applies depending on Country between 15% and 21%.

Correct.  I have never had to pay any customs charges for my purchases from Doxa.

I wouldn't be afraid to buy a used Doxa just because of the bezel "scratch magnet" issue.  Just make sure to get good recent pix of the watch and ask point blank about condition.  MOST WUS are very honest in my experience.

The bezel alone is one reason to get a Doxa in your collection. It is very unique and extremely functional in recreational diving and many people do a double take when they see it.

There is nothing wrong with pre-owned...it is the way I prefer to buy!

I'd say half or close to it of my collection was pre-owned. I have no problem with that at all if the watch was well cared for. ;)

Devine congrats on your choice of watch for your next purchase. Doxa is probably my favorite brand of watch out there. Once you own one you will quickly realize why there is such a strong, loyal following among WIS. I would suggest going preowned. There are some nice ones available that come up for sale on TZ or WUS and yes 3T too. I've purchased my 750T Pro, 750T Sharkhunter and 600T-Graph all preowned in absolutely beautiful, like-new condition off of the forums and have been extremely happy.

Hey Ken, you got rooked on the FedEx custom charges. Doxa pays all charges and Doxa states that if FedEx contacts you asking for customs fees, you should contact Doxa and they will immediatly take care of it.

Thanks...I'll give them a holler.

UPDATE...I just spoke with DOXA and they were extremely responsive...I could not have asked for better service!

Okay...this is wild.  I just opened today's mail and there was a check from FedEx reimbursing me for the duty paid, saying it was billed to a 3rd party!

DAMN...those guys at DOXA are fast!!!!mistake.gif

Bottom line, I was really impressed with with the attitude and quickness of DOXA's response to the problem...there was absolutely no "hemming & hawing"...it was a "take charge...we will handle it" from the gitgo!  VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Coincidence...I'm sure.  Nobody could have truly reacted that quickly, but DOXA confirmed the matter with FedEx in a matter of minutes and was preparing to issue a credit to my card when I emailed them about receiving the check!  perfect.gif

I guess the Customer Service issues disappeared with the "Bull Fighter"!
