All - I recently had about a dozen watches swiped either at the post office, or somewhere in transit. The genius that swiped them had the brains to list them on ebay, and his username is actually his first initial and last name. Please be aware that these are stolen items.

Marc really sorry to hear about that. Guys like that I'd love to introduce to a old fashion Navy keel haul or bamboo under the fingernails treatment. :X I hate a thief more than most things. :(

so far:

I've reported to ebay. I've contacted the police; they need me to file a report;  I doubt anything will happen.

I doubt I'll get anything back. If anybody has contacts to 'persuasive' measures, be my guest :)

Thanks-
Marc

I've heard of such just to often and after a friend and my brother got riped off 2 years ago I quit using them. They just don't have the man power to police the stuff they have going on there. It makes the local news here often too. Folks being riped off, not getting what they ordered and so forth.

updates:

Columbo (me) has been driving around all morning. After a good talk with my mailman (he truly is the best), he informed me that a person with that name lives down the block from me.

Just went down there; he claims a 'friend' gave them to him, but he will return them all. Will keep you posted.

Thanks-
Marc

Wow...that is interesting, wonder what else he has been doing in the Neighborhood....helping himself to other peoples packages...

You may want to think about using a PO box or something like that?

It's not often I come across a thread like this that finishes with a happy ending.  I'm very happy that this one did.  You're a good guy Marc and I think someone "upstairs" made note of that.

Pretty amazing story.  Glad you got your watches back.

I hate dishonest people and this just proves how stupid most of them really are.

Kudos to the Mailman for helping.

Have to wonder if one of his compatriots may have delivered to the wrong address to start with.  Our substitute ones here cant find their way home if they take down the street signs.

What an unbelievable story. I am so glad it turned out right. A good guy like Marc shouldn't get ripped off ever! I hope the thief gets what he deserves. I do not believe it was an honest mistake if he was listing them on the Bay. I trust you will take what action you deem appropriate, Marc, be it legal or just justified.

Good guys do finish first!!

We've had christmas presents for nieces and nephews "lost" in transit.  the guys story is like the kid stopped by the cops swearing the 10 lb bag of grass in the trunk isn't his . He just borrowed the car from his friend.

Thanks everybody. It was quite an 'emotional roller coaster' of a day.

Story goes: somebody owed him money, and in lieu of payment, they gave him watches to fence on ebay. duhh.

Anyway, in the end it took what my dad would call "chutspah", the Italians would call it "balls". I rang his door bell, explained the entire situation (to him and his mom!), possible police report, didn't want any trouble, just my stuff back. An hour later, I had EVERYTHING.

Oddly enough I had a strap going to a 3T member. Would have been the second package that got 'lost' on the way to him. phew.

Thanks all-
Marc
