This might be looong.(lol) Just about three years ago. I sold my blue K-3-Submarine Vostok to a friend of mine at work. He's not into watches. He was looking for somthing nice and H2O proof. (he fishes) I gave it to him for $70.00. At the time I only wore it a couple times-(brand new cond.)He thought that was ALOT of $$. Well a year goes by, and he brings me the watch and say's its broken. The threads were stripped-so it was not water proofed anymore. I didn't have to do anything. But I felt a little bad, so I took it back and e-mailed Tom. He took it back! And gave me a NEW one in its place. But it was black not blue. Well this friend didn't want the black he wanted his blue back. So I e-mailed Tom again, I sent the black back and recieved the blue all polished and fixed.(Tom did not have to do any of this for me, But he did!-THANKS TOM) I gave the watch back to my friend. Now another year goes by and he approaches me again! WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I tell him I'll try to get it fixed, but its been over two years!! I take the watch which is all beat up, I Don't dare bother Tom about this now. I just hold it and tell my friend it doesn't look good. About three months go by, I feel bad. So what do I do, I'll tell you-I buy a Croton pepsi diver from the bay new for $45.00 And gave it to him today. What does he say?=Its lighter then my other, and it doesn't fit!!!! At this point I washed my hands from this. I believe I did more then what I should of. I will not sell anything to anyone I personnely know. But now Im stuck with my old vostok battered up and the winder stripped. What should I do with it? Attempt to find someone to fix it? Maybe have it customized? Or just sell it as is on the bay or wus? Thanks for letting me VENT..

Okay...1st, you sold the K-3 to him at half price. 2nd, he's not your friend...he's a user, an abuser, a whiner and a loser...kiss him good bye and good riddance!

Yeah I came to that conclusion also. But what should I do with this poor Vostok? Is it worth fixing? Or dump it?

This is how a friend of your, a friend you actually think enough of to give a fine watch to, this is how this friend treats you? You are being awfully generous on many levels. Especially generous to call such a boor a friend!coyote2.gif It is obviously too much watch for him since he can't work the crown properly. Sounds as they he caused the damage.. twice. Is the guy disabled. I wouldn't teat a stranger like this clown is treating you Dave!  Tom is a far better friend as actions speak louder than words. I am actually pissed you had ANYONE treat you like this because its just thoughtless and downright classless. JMHO but you don't need "friends" of this caliber.

Well, 1st, you should buy an Omega Planet Ocean and sell it to me, your new friend, for $500. Then you should donate the watch to Salvation Army, write it off and get it out of your sight...otherwise it will simply irritate the crap out of you. Sincerely, me...your new friend who needs a new watch! :D

I call him a friend because I work with the guy. Actually he's on day shift, and I am on a special detail. So we see each other occasionally. I work in a "jail" invironment. But as of now, Im done with him. I'll still say hi if he talks to me first, but Im pretty much done. He burnt me! But at least I can say I did my best to fix the problem. Thats just me. I may look like a Big a$$ho__. But Really Im a gentle giant. You have to really push me to get angry. I guess my tolerance has built up over the past 18 years of working with buttheads.(Some of them inmates) LOL.

1st for the Vostok turn it into a hobby watch. Take it apart and have fun exploring it and later maybe try to custom tweak and fix it yourself. Rainy day thing / project. ;) 2ed agree kick that jerk to the curb. If some so called friend tried that crap on me I'd have to kick the stupid out of them. :X

Well I thought you handle the situation great, ya I thought about telling you wait until shift change run up on him in the parking lot and ram your knee into his gut and then sock him in the face a couple of times, but that would have gotten you fired and maybe arrested, so I decided that was not good advise, hey you have my respect on the way you handled that whole thing brother and I understand the environment your in I have been a prison guard over 20yrs, it's sad when staff become idiots, because it's suppose to be about honesty and integrity we preach everyday. Dave his day will come and something great will come your way, it always comes back in full turn.
