Alpina has announced its latest version of the Alpina Manufacture Regulator. They have developed their own manufacture automatic caliber for the watch. Size is 46mm so Hucky might even consider this a winner. When I first saw this I was a little bummed I had the older model but looking at the functions available off the manufacture caliber I was surprised to see a date function had supplanted the seconds hand. Just doesn't work for me. I would much rather prefer a running seconds hand than the date. I took a peak at the Alpina site but couldn't find any more info.

So what do you say? Winner or Loser? There's a poll for your opinion.

I like it. If it has a exhibition case back that would be a big plus too. ;)

I like the one you have a lot better Paxman. I always prefer hand wound over auto.

I also noticed this one on their site.

I wish the all black was available before I purchased this one.

Thanks Tony and Chick. I like mine better too...toon1.gif I better!

Is it just me or is the date a week replacement for the second hand? I would much prefer the constant steady motion of the second hand to the mostly static date dial... It doesn't seem to bug anyone else... perhaps I am rationalizing! coyote2.gif

Is that little red tail on the minute hand or is it a second hand that was photoshoped out for clarity?  The other watches in the post all seem to have a second hand with that little red triangle.
