Was at a formal affair a few nights ago, and the bartender (as he was preparing my Diet Coke) was wearing an Orient black auto dive watch (the Black Mako). I complimented him on it, and he replied in his thick russian accent "thank you, I enjoy very much!"

Its the first time I've seen an Orient in "mainstream" America!

Thanks-
Marc

I have never seen anyone else around here wearing a Orient myself. I've had a few folks ask me about the ones I have a few times.

I have seen only 2 other guys who even wear automatic Seiko's. A few quartz though.

My old watch guy had never even heard of Alba's.

I saw a friend of mine the other day and he was wearing a DOXA SUB 750T Pro...I was astonished.  I complimented him on his watch and his response was, "Yes, it's fun!":D

Whenever I see stuff like Patek Philippe, Panerai, Vacheron Constantin or IWC, I don't comment. Usually these guys aren't interested in drooling. I also rarely comment on frequently advertised well made watches like Rolex, Omega, and Cartier.

When someone has an unusual high-end watch such as U. Nardin, Audemars Piguet, or Anonimo I might say something. They're just begging for attention. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

My favorite category are the "other" good companies that make nice watches. Stuff like Tutima, Hublot, Limes, Stowa and Glycine. I appreciate the value watch that doesn't scream out to the masses. Watches that only WIS people recognize their quality. It's like a secret club.

/I didn't mention any brand I own.
//Does Hublot belong in the attention seekers category? Hmmm- sometimes.
///This dude was lugging around a huge U-BOAT the other day, I said nothing.

////To stay on topic, I never saw an Orient in real life-not even at a store.

Yes, I agree. I see these and know the person is "in the know"; hopefully :)

I'll tell you this I haven't seen 99% of the whatches I've been introduced to on this site.  It's interesting what people buy.  For exaqmple, my Brother-in Law wants to buy for name only so that when people see the watch, they know.  I've tried to introduce him to this site in order to open his mind, but he's not a true WIS and he's not interested.  I like when people ask about or compliment a watch I'm wearing because it's not a mainstream brand. just my $.02

I have seen a couple of Seiko's, Rolex and a Tag.  I forgot I have also seen a couple of Invicta's, like a blue face Ocean ghost.  The 2 persons, one tag owner was really proud and the Invicta guy his was a gift from his wife, you thought someone had given a $11,000. watch, which I thought was cool, he was really into showing me his watch and thank me for the compliment I gave him.
