I think it's because every WIS found out it's easier to just pm You or Skip instead of listing them!!!subtlelaugh.gif

Hey huck - I get the same feeling. Your tax time was hectic, yes. Our tax time is coming up in July when we pay end of year taxes to 30 June...  :(

US dollar worth a lot less now, Aussie dollar worth a lot more. Less traffic (and I notice that the sales forum here on 3T is not ever very active, either...???) and the prices are being asked generally seem to me to be a bit higher lately. Maybe all those forces converged to slow things down a bit??

Worth being cautious about, though - bargains are getting harder to come by...

Have a great weekend!

No complaints here:D Though I am seeing some crazy asking pricesmistake.gif a Stingray selling for same price you can buy new, and JMHO a lot of Enzo's lingering with people trying to get 800-1000 for them. Seems like the under $200 automatic market is still strong.

Saw that Stingray ad...btw, what is the "acrylic insert" that the seller seems so proud of?

I think rising prices of new watches and the weak US dollar has attributed to folks simply not willing to sell a piece that they normally might have let go for fear of the it cost them WAY more money down the road if they try and get another...

For instance...  look at the Kobold Seal and Sinn U1 new prices now...  A year or so ago the Seal could be had for around $1100-$1250 pre-owned, and Sinn U1 was that price new...  now the Seal is around $2400 and the Sinn getting close to $2k... A Marcello C Tridente used to be $850 new... now you are seeing used ones going for more than this...  I had a chance to grab a new Kenzo a month ago.. but the price due to the US dollar and movt price... made it $1700...  it is still a $1250 watch (I am not one that will pay more simply b/c it is a limited edition.. )  I certainly understand why the Kenzo was now that price... but I am just not the guy that will pay the premium due ...  Not picking on these brands... just simply saying.. that although the US dollar is weak, I am an American, and it is MY form of money... and I am just not willing to pay that kind of increase when the fact is the watch is exactly the same watch that it was a few months ago or a year ago...

And with that...  I have listed my Stowa ProDiver with extra bezel for trade.. the reason I haven't listed it for sell... well because now a new ProDiver will cost you $1400 to get to you delivered in the US plus $130 more for the extra bezel (with shipping from Germany if order separately)..  That is $1530...  there simply is no way that I am going to sell my ProDiver for the $900 or so that it has often been sold for on the used market in the past year... and also I am a bit embarrassed to actually list it as straight for sale at around $1250-$1300... b/c a year ago you could get a new one straight from Jorg in Germany for that price...  Yet as I stated already personally, I am also NOT the guy who is willing to pay more b/c of this... so it has put a lot of us in a catch 22 position...  I would like to flip a couple... but simply haven't b/c of the way the market is going...

The radical price increases in the watch industry are hurting the sales forums in the above $800 category...  the beater market is still thriving... and if the market continues to rise... the beater market may be where many many more of us have to settle...  of course then the $200 Seiko's will be $500... and I will just QUIT!

and the answer is still no John:D...the sold items are as important as the items still for sale as it lends credibility to the sellers and buyers when someone wants to use the search engine for researching watches and values as well as sellers repshand6.gif

I've always had the same thinking with the sold items. I like to see them as successful deals... an implicit endorsement from a satisfied buyer, seller and the 3T family.

The "acrylic insert" is exactly that. They were making that type of insert for the bezel, more in keeping with the original I guess,  but have discontinued it due to cost. I guess some people think this makes it more rare or collectible.
