this is one Awesome understated watch imhohand6.gif Apr 23, 2008 At SIHH 2008 Jaeger-LeCoultre presented two new limited edition models as a tribute to one of the greatest 20th century sports watches - the legendary Memovox Polaris models that joined the horology world in the 1960s. The initial Memovax Polaris watches developed for divers enjoyed great success, having incorporated innovative alarm mechanisms. both the JL and Longines are re-editions/tributes to watches they produced in the 60's....many other companies have released similar vintage watches to honor their earlier counterparts....Bretling with the 46mm vintage,Blanpain fifty fathoms...seems to be a trend I likecool10.gif |

I have seen the in-house JL cal. 956 movement in a watch locally. Let's just say the Memovox needs an exhibition back - it is a gorgeous thing! Who wouldn't be proud to own one of these? And IMHO much more wearable than the soon-to-be-released Omega Ploprof reissue, which goes for about 9k USD. I think this one as a 42mm would wear larger than the BPFF reissue because it is like an "all dial". Y'all know how much I like sloping inner chapter rings, that great satin black dial finish and those cool "compressor" crowns. Three matching ones - gotta love that. Add an alarm function and you've got a very characterful watch. This one is definitely lust-worthy. I would choose my own strap, though - that tire tready number isn't doing it for me. What a nice post, O. Thanks for sharing - it is a beautiful watch. But I still want to know where they put the hanging gong... or does it somehow connect directly to your 'nads and give 'em a shake??? ;) Have a great day all! IanMhand6.gif |

The JLC Memovox Tribute to Polaris is simply stunning. I wish it wasn't a limited edition run. Maybe JLC will follow Blancpain's example with the Fifty Fathoms and have an unlimited edition run sometime in the future. |
