I found this while googling around. The seller has a couple other Tudors, but I was curious what you guys thought of this one in particular. I'm thinking the movement may not be right, because according to scubawatch.org, this particular model should be a 17j. What say you?

One thing - it looks like it might have radium on the hands and dial. Might be dead by now if the watch is old. And, time for a re-lumn.

Yeah, if the dial and hands are the real deal, that's to be expected. I think the seller has already sold this one, but he's got a couple of others I was looking at too. One is a ref 7928, but he says it has an ETA movement. I thought that ref # used the Rolex 390 as a base. Anybody know anything different?

From what I can tell all Tudor Oyster Prince Submariners and Oyster Prince DayJust and Day-Date Self-Winding all use 25 Jewel movements. The manual wind Rolexes and Tudors use 17 Jewel Movements.

Having once owned a Tudor Submariner myself. That the image of this hands on this watch is correct but do check for rubber gaskets and seals to ensure waterproofing.

There are Tudor Submariners with the Shield Emblem with the arrow hands, while
others have the Rolex Hands (The little Mercedes Symbol on the end of the hour hand). I have seen a few Rose Emblem Tudor Submariners with either hands.

As I looked at closely at the dial, this model must have gotten its dial redone
because all Tudor watches use the word "Self-Winding" in the middle of watch,
just above where it says 200 Meters / 660 ft. for Civilian Versions.

Further research has also indicated that 7928  has been confirmed that this watch was issued by the French Navy or M.N. (Marine Nationale) and U.S. Navy Seals.
However, when these watches retired from service they were auctioned off while
others were destroyed.

Hands are wrong.......Check out this site to get a visual on the correct shape.

http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/revues-videos-photographies-fiches-pratiques-f2/tudor-submariner-t1013.htm

The hour hand in the picture is a little too diamond shaped.

You are correct about the 7928s using the .390........I have 4 of them and they all run the 390......not an ETA. The 7016s(2483) and the 9401/9411s (which I own as well) both us an ETA series.

Hope this helps out.

Thanks for clearing that up, Smitty.

Tudor watches are confusing that is what it makes it
hard to keep track as to what each model should look like.ThumbsUp02.gif

No problem Simon.... Tudors being a bit confusing is what the guys that sell the bogus ones are counting on:(!! It won't be long before even the "experts" are getting the wool pulled over on them.

Laters,

SMITTY

The one I used to own looked identical to MN 1983,which was a blue dial with bezel, but mine was made in 1976.
