Hi Again,

A friend (same one who had asked about the Triumph watches and was dissuaded by me) wants to know if anyone has experience with some of the Tissot quartz chronos.  He is specificallyinterested in something like the following:

http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-PRC200-Mens-Watch-T17-1-586-52/dp/B000G0KQDK/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1219758965&sr=8-1

He has stopped by a few dealers and no one in our area seems to have this model or anything similar.  One told him Tissot only ships watches to the dealers once a year so they don't have many models in stock at this time.  Anyways, any commentary on the Tissot quartz chronos or just Tissot quartz watches would be appreciated.  I asked if he would consider autos but he feels he would not wear the watch often enough to keep it running without having to wind it all the time.

Thanks in advance for the input,

David

David,

I have not heard anything negative about Tissot, other than a few problems with their T-Touch.  I personally do not own one.  I believe the quartz chronos use an ETA movement, probably the g10.211 or similar.  you can probably confirm this on their website.

I'm sure some of the other guys will chime in.

I've owned a PRC50 for the last 7-8 years and it has been rock solid. Once owned by Omega and now by Swatch, I'm pretty sure they are using ETA movements, but I haven't checked. My wife has been wearing a Tissot non-chrono for over 15 years and won't wear anything else, go figure.

He may want to look at the PRS516 also.

Yep, I second what the others have been saying.  You can't go wrong.  Tissot is a great brand and my experience with them has been nothing but positive.

Hi David,
I have a Tissot dress watch my wife gave me as a birthday present. I don't remember what the style is called, but it is a beautiful watch that keeps incredibly accurate time. I have heard that Tissot is the most bought watch in Switzerland. They have some amazingly beautiful and unique models...I guess you have noticed I'm a Tissot fan.

Some people have had problems with the T-Touch. That watch has a lot going on.

Anyway, I belong to another watch group called watchuseek. They have forums about many watch brands, including Tissot. I think you will find it most informative. This is the link to th Tissot forum...I hope it works as I am no whizz the computer.

I would be curious how the Tissot works out for you.
Chris

I think you will get more informative answers here on 3T via the search engine and this thread rather than the WUS Tissot forum imho which is a pretty dead forum since the day it was started and may take hours to days to get a informative answer :D....btw myself and others here on 3T were responsible for the start up of that particular forum as most of us here are long time members/mods dating to 01' on WUS.... we all have had good experience with Tissot for many years and feel it is a great brand for newbs to seasoned collectors as they are Swiss Made and affordable imohand6.gif

Hey Guys,
I was just chimming in and read about the Tissot. My father died back 6 years ago, when he passed i put a bunch of his stuff in boxes and forgot about it, recently I open one of those boxes and found some of his old watches. One of them is a PR 516, the original bracelet is gone and the case looks pretty bad, but I rubber banded it to the pillow in my winder and low and behold this engine still works! My father was not gentile with anything and to be honest I was not really gentile with his things when he passed. To break it down, I agree you can not go wrong with a Tissot!
