Just spotted this one: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=3966942&rid=0 Aged lume, orange, blue, brushed, twin crowns - very cool, I think. The watch costs a pretty penny, but jees Louise - is the box worth $450 to the seller, too??? What say you - is this a collectible brand? What makes them special? Would y'all pick this or the 46mm Breitling SuperOcean Heritage? Any other must have diver watches on your minds at about the 2500 USD level or less?? Just checking them out = not looking to buy anything else until financial recovery sets in :) Thanks for your opinions - IanM |

I love this brand, Ian and have had one on my wish list for some time. Great history to the brand and imo a little off the beaten path. I don't know that divers are the brand's forte but I do find the design appealing. Now, between this and and SO Heritage?? Personally I would probably go with the C&S just because it's a little off the beaten path... then I would kikck myself for not buying the SO Heritage!face4.gif That is if I had an extra chunk of cash... which I don't!:X |

I've seen a couple of their watches - recently the new Torpedo Pirate - and although the styling generally isn't to my taste, the fit and finish was top-class. That diver does look nice, though... |

I've been trying to pick up a vintage piece for a few years now. I love their use of earth tones and vintage look. I've seen several of them in Vegas and tried a few on and I'd buy one in a heartbeat if my budget allowed. The box they come in are very nice humidors which fits nicely with the Cuban heritage. Ugh....I would say pass with no box or papers. Even if he had the box he would want around 3400, you can get a used Panerai with the goodies for that. Very pretty watch. |

Thanks men - I wasn't aware of the history or the rarity. Might have to look at one "in the flesh" one day and see what theya re really like ... Pax - I see your point about it being off the beaten path. Looks ike it might be a good long termer - by which I mean it will hold soem of its value. break3 - I will look that model up and try to become a bit more familiar with the brand - thanks for pointing me to something I can actually research! Goofy - it is exactly that "look" that got me, too. Kinda similar to the Zinex Nitrox yellowed lume approach to watchmaking. I like it. Shady - you're probably right. On an item like that, the box and papers would lilkely make a big difference to the resale if you ever got sick of it or found another grail... and another Panerai of that SuperOcean Heritage would be an all-time classic with more broad appeal to the secondary market IMHO. And Skip - I haven't seen any of their other models. Any you can post a link to so we can share? Cheers, men!  |
