Watch boxes are everywhere at my house, some are still occupied, some are not. The watches I wear often are kept in a cabinet or in the case of my Gevril collection are housed in a multi-slot box (which is over filled). So, what to do and how to keep track of the empties. I took time today to slip a note into all my Gevril boxes as to which watch it housed. This was something I had to do now while I can still remember what goes to what since two more Gevrils are on their way and may arrive later today. Since I have multiples of the same style box, I needed to keep track of what went with what. So, I was wondering what you guys do to keep track of empty boxes or do you even bother to make sure that the original box stays with the watch that came in it? Also storage tips would be greatly appreciated. The new arrivals will be as follows, making my total Gevril collection numbering 15: Gevril First Generation mid sized chrono with the COSC certified ETA 2894 37 jewel movement on leather. (used) GV2 Blue dial auto classic design with the pie pan dial on leather. (New) I will post pics as they arrive. Clyde |

Congrats on the two new incoming Gevrils! As to storage... generally I keep all paperwork, original packaging and extra links with the watch box. Boxes are place into large plastic storage containers, sealed up and stored in my basement. Not having 15 watches from one manufacturer makes it a lot easier to keep track of...;) Should the attendant paperwork be more than what will fit into the original watch box, I store these in a drawer in the "watch area" of my home office. I am a little OCD :shock: so I have a pretty good idea of where everything is... |

You're discussing a problem i WISH I had - lol. I agree with storing the orig boxes together, with the links and paperwork, in a basement box and storing the watches in watchboxes/winders (one box on the dresser with the more 'day-to-day' watches and one tucked away in a closet (or a safe) with the lesser-used, more expensive watches. Again, this is what I would do, but only having 5 watches presently makes this just an opinion. Hopefully next year at this time I'll be able to speak more knowledgably on the subject - lol. (with all the Gevril watches you could consider printing a color pic of each watch- google images - and putting that inside the corresponding box) |
